Built Environment Presentation/Meeting

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a built environment presentation and meeting on Friday, April 29, from 11:30 to 1:30 in Laulima 225 on the University of Hawai`i Maui College campus.

David Sereda will be our guest speaker.  David recently attended the New Partners for Smart Growth conference held in Charlotte, NC and will share information from that conference, including a Slow Development session that featured Andres Duany, and a local example of an affordable housing project in North Carolina.

David Sereda has been employed as a land planner and landscape architect with Chris Hart & Partners since August 2001.  David’s involvement is key to the successful completion of landscape architecture projects as well as master plans. Some notable projects that David has worked on at Chris Hart and Partners are: The South Maui Region Parks and Open Space Master Plan, The Non-Motorized Access Plan for Waikapu-Wailuku-Kahului, and the Upcountry Greenways Master Plan. Previously, David was employed as a Land Use Analyst with The Sheltair Group in Vancouver, BC for three years. His background includes a degree in Economics and a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture.

Registration and healthy lunch (provided) begins at 11:15 a.m.. David's presenation will take place from 11:30 to 12:00 noon, following by an update on NPAC's built environment priorities, which include the completion of the North Shore Greenway, Complete Streets policies, and the inclusion of complete streets concepts in the Maui Island Plan. Working sessions will then take place so attendees may learn about, provide input , and help guide the process to the success of our built environment priorities!

There is no charge to attend the session.  Space is limited, and reservations are required and will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis, with priority given to NPAC Maui County members and policymakers.  If you are not yet a member and would like to join, please email me and I will send you a membership form.
